Tonight we started the painting badge since Mothers Day is close I thought we could use the projects as mom day gifts. To fulfill Step #4 (painting w/out brushes) I glued different items to corks (such as yarn, pom pom, straw, feathers) and had the girls stamp onto bags. These bags we will use for the gifts. We also worked on Step #3 (paint a mood) I decide to print out templates to help guide the girls on how to layout the image. I purchases white tiles from Home Depot (super cheap like .50 ea) and added cork to the back. These tiles can be used as coaster. After the paint is dry I will seal each tile with a coat of poly (that will seal them). At our next meeting we will continue working on the self portrait (step #2) My initial plan was to complete the entire badge in one meeting but this took a lot longer than I anticipated. Such a fun badge the girls loved it!

We decided the best way to "share water" was to really share water so we did just that. The girls goal was $200 so we ended up adding some more money (from cookies) so we could meet our $200 goal. One of the many things I love about this non-profit organization is how they follow up with each donor. Over time the girls will find out where the donation was sent, how it helped the community and so forth. I hope the impact of helping others stays with the girls for life.
